this is how seemingly "benign" liberal policies like gun control lead to the rise of the police state...they make you more and more dependent on the government--government-run schools, government health care, government welfare, etc.--and take away more and more of our rights--gun control laws, FCC regulation of free speech, etc.--so that in the end all that needs to happen is some fanatical dictator type personality comes into power and we are left totally defenseless. not to mention engendering in us the idea that we cannot protect ourselves--say, in the event of a school shooting or a terrorist hijacking of an airplane--but that we must rely on big government and big brother to take care of us. let katrina be a stark reminder to you of what this kind of government-dependence will lead to in the future .

i think the evidence is clear. they are setting us up for something big--especially with the president's new executive orders--with fema and the u.s. military on the "homeland", the infrastructure is now all put into place for martial law to be declared *nation-wide* in the event of the next "catastrophic emergency."
